On August 13, a group of 24 members and 10 guests met at the Sagamité restaurant in Wendake for lunch. Lunch was followed by a visit to the Traditional Huron Onhouä Chetek8e site (editor's note there is no spelling mistake with the word Chetek8e).
We were greeted by a guide dressed in traditional clothing for a guided tour. We were able to visit the (Long House) and learned a lot about the Wendate way of life.
We were able to see the smokehouse and meat dryer as well as the sweat lodge. There was a presentation on the Wendate means of transportation where we sat in large canoes to listen to explanations on the making of the canoes and snowshoes.
At the end of the tour, those who wished were able to purchase handicrafts.
